At Sea

Looking down from the crow’s nest on a day at sea you can see people laughing by the pool or enjoying cocktails at the tropical bar. In the distance you might be able to make out the shapes of buildings as we glide past. Patmos, Greece

The white walled houses of Patmos lie on land with a vast history. Patmos is known in Christianity as being the birth place of the apocalypse, where St. John had the end of the world revealed to him by God, and subsequently wrote the last book of the New Testament, The Book of Revelation. The fortress like Monastery of St. John is home to priceless icons and manuscripts and makes for an excellent cultural outing on the Star Clipper Northern Cyclades tour.

Amorgos, Greece

Delos and Mykonos

Of all the islands that the Star Clipper Northern Cyclades cruise stops at, there was none more important in antiquity than Delos. Thought to have been the birth place of Artemis and Apollo it formed the hub around which the wheel of the Cyclades spins. Although largely uninhabited the island is the home of numerous temples, statues and items of archeological interest. By contrast Mykonos is a lively and modern island. Tinos, Greece

Dramatic architecture decorates the countryside and every village in Tinos. Explore the high bell towers, exquisite ornamented dovecotes and carved marble buildings that decorate the villages of picturesque Cyclades island, which is famous for its folk art. The Catholic and Greek Orthodox populations tried to out-build each other with the highest towers, resulting in the elaborate Panayia Evengelistira – the largest tower of them all which is a shrine to a Tinote nun.
